Hello, my name is Trevor de Clercq, and welcome to my personal web site. Currently, I am Professor in the Department of Recording Industry in the College of Media and Entertainment at Middle Tennessee State University, where I coordinate the musicianship curriculum and teach coursework in audio theory, sound recording, and music production. In the past, I have taught at Ithaca College, Hofstra University, Adelphi University, the Eastman School of Music, and the University of Rochester. I have a PhD (2012) and an MA (2008) in music theory from the Eastman School of Music, an AAS (2004) in electronics engineering technology from the Cleveland Institute of Electronics, an MM (2000) in music technology from New York University, a BA (1996) in music theory and composition from Cornell University, and am on track to earn a BS in mathematics with a professional concentration in statistics in Fall 2024 from MTSU. My research interests include popular music, music perception and cognition, empirical musicology (especially computational corpus methods), and sound recording.
