Hello, my name is Trevor de Clercq. Currently, I am Associate Professor in the department of Recording Industry in the College of Media and Entertainment at Middle Tennessee State University, where I coordinate the musicianship curriculum and teach coursework in audio theory and music technology. In the past, I have taught at Ithaca College, Hofstra University, Adelphi University, the Eastman School of Music, and the University of Rochester. I have a PhD (2012) and an MA (2008) in music theory from the Eastman School of Music, an AAS (2004) in electronics engineering technology from the Cleveland Institute of Electronics, an MM (2000) in music technology from New York University, a BA (1996) in music theory and composition from Cornell University, and have completed statistics coursework equivalent to a minor in mathematics at MTSU. My research interests include popular music, music perception and cognition, empirical musicology (especially computational corpus methods), and sound recording.
